The AXS is why HuntingAXS is HuntingAXS
The Easton 4MM Axis Long Range is the arrow the domain refers to. Micro-diameter carbon, .003 straightness, 4MM inner, and enough forgiveness to shoot broadheads at 60 yards without walking rest micro-adjustments every session. This is a west-country and public-land hunt arrow: cross-wind resistant, penetration-first, and available in enough spines to build for 40-70 lb draw weights.
Tuning notes
Cut to 28.75 in (arrow length from throat of nock to end of shaft), 100 gr Iron Will S100 broadhead, .0175 in stainless HIT insert. Total arrow weight: 462 gr with a 14.5% FOC. Paper-tuned bullet holes in 6 shots from a 65 lb Hoyt RX-7 at 28 in draw. Walk-back tuned across 5 yd to 60 yd with the same 20 yd pin and got a perfect vertical line.
In the field
Bull elk down at 42 yd, unit 61 Colorado, September 2024. Cornfield whitetail down at 22 yd, zone Iowa 5, November 2024. Both pass-through, both blood trails under 60 yd. The Long Range group at 60 yd from a treestand held a 3 in group on the third and final tag-fill session. Confidence in the arrow at that distance is why the tag came home.
What we would change
- The factory wraps peel in single-digit temperatures, replace before late-season
- Factory nocks fit loose enough on some strings to drop off a rest at draw
- Price per dozen is at the top of the mid-tier bracket, not a first-timer buy
