Grim Reaper Razor Tip Review

Grim Reaper Razor Tip review

The Grim Reaper Razor Tip is the fixed-tip mechanical the company has been running as their flagship since 2016. Trocar tip (three-edge cut-on-contact), FastRelease over-the-top expansion, .039 in stainless blades, three-blade mechanical, 1-3/4 in cut on impact. The Razor Tip trades some of the Rage’s aluminium-ferrule fragility for a slightly heavier build.

Build and geometry

Machined 7075 aluminium ferrule, steel Razor Tip (three-edge cut-on-contact), three .039 in stainless main blades. Cut is 1-3/4 in on impact. Options are 85, 100, and 125 gr. FastRelease O-rings retain blades in flight; the tip cuts on entry before the mechanicals deploy.

Flight and tuning

Fixed Razor Tip helps the head fly close to a field point inside 30 yd on a paper-tuned rig. Beyond 40 yd the mechanical blade pockets create small flight breakdown vs field point. Broadhead-tune required for 50+ yd shots. Blades open reliably on any bow over 55 lb draw at 400 grain arrow.

Best for

Best for: whitetail bowhunters wanting big blood-trail cuts with cut-on-contact tip insurance.

Shortcomings

O-ring retention means periodic O-ring replacement (cheap kit, mild annoyance). Aluminium ferrule bends on shoulder-bone hits. Not legal in fixed-only states; confirm on state broadhead laws.
