Gold Tip Hunter Review

Gold Tip Hunter Review

Bottom line

The base Gold Tip Hunter is the reference budget hunting arrow. Same shaft profile as the Hunter XT with looser straightness (+/- .006 vs +/- .003) and looser weight sort (+/- 2 gr vs +/- 0.5 gr). At $65 to $85 per dozen it kills any deer under 40 yards.

Where it fits

First-year bowhunter or a hunter who does not stretch shots past 40 yards. At hunting range the group difference against a Hunter XT is not measurable off a bench. Past 50 yards the tolerance gap opens up 1 to 2 inch groups.

Common complaints

Nock rotation over a full season of practice. Weight tolerance at the +/- 2 grain range means a hunting dozen will have a 10 to 12 grain spread. Sort them yourself at build time, put the four lightest in the hunting quiver, and use the rest for practice.

What Rokslide says

Gold Tip Hunter is what I hand to a new bowhunter who wants to know the answer to “what arrow should I buy?”
