Easton is the oldest and largest name in modern archery arrows. Their Axis, FMJ, and 4mm Axis Long Range shafts define what a hunting arrow looks like in 2026. If you have never bought a hunting arrow before, an Easton is almost always the safe first buy.

Component ecosystem
HIT insert system is Easton’s calling card. A 5mm HIT insert is bonded into the shaft interior instead of being sleeved outside it, which lets Easton keep the outer profile clean and the arrow’s weight distribution repeatable. Aluminum HIT is 16 grains, brass is 50 grains, titanium is 22 grains. All screw the same standard 8-32 thread broadhead.
Honest strengths
Straightness tolerance is verifiable. Match Grade Axis at +/- .001 has been independently spun by Rokslide reviewers and confirmed. Warranty holds when the arrow really is defective; broken shafts get replaced with a photo. Component availability is unmatched: every pro shop in North America stocks 5mm HIT inserts.
Honest weaknesses
Price. An Axis Match Grade dozen runs $220 to $260, and FMJ Match Grade tops $360. Standard Axis at +/- .003 delivers most of the hunting performance at half the price; skip the upgrade unless you shoot past 60 yards or compete 3D.
