G5 Outdoors
G5 Outdoors was founded in 2003 in Memphis, Michigan by the Grace family, who also own Prime Archery and Quality Archery Designs (QAD). Every G5 broadhead is CNC-machined in Memphis; the brand pioneered the Montec one-piece fixed head cast from a single ingot of MIM (metal injection molded) steel.
Brand ethos and manufacturing
One-piece construction is the family signature. Montec is MIM steel; Striker Pro is CNC-cut solid steel; Havoc is the modular replaceable-blade design. The G5 hallmark is a hardened tip that resists rock and shoulder-blade impact damage that would break a lighter-tip head.

G5 replaces Montec heads damaged on impact; Rokslide fixed-head threads keep coming back to the Montec as the best USD 40 broadhead. Customer service through Memphis is fast on defect returns. The Montec’s cut-on-contact tip has a documented shoulder-blade penetration record that puts it ahead of most chisel-tip heads at the same price.
Common complaints
Montec’s factory edge is not shaving sharp out of the box; ArcheryTalk regulars note it needs a Work Sharp session before the first hunt. The Havoc mechanical front-deploy design has occasional blade failure reports at high impact speeds on shoulder bone (Rokslide 2024 mechanical thread); it works better as a whitetail head than an elk head.
