PSE Archery
PSE Archery (Precision Shooting Equipment) was founded in 1971 by Pete Shepley in Tucson, Arizona. Shepley pioneered the compound bow’s second-generation cam design and PSE has stayed in Tucson since the 1970s. The company has the widest lineup of any US bow maker: hunting compounds, target compounds, recurves, longbows, and youth bows.
Brand ethos and manufacturing
Full-range manufacturer that runs high-end (EVO EVL, Mach 30), mid-tier (Drive NXT), and value (Stinger, Brute) lines from the same Tucson plant. PSE offers the widest range of draw lengths and weights of any brand, which is why left-handed hunters and short-draw shooters end up on PSE more often than the average.
Flagship products
- PSE Mach 30: 30 inch ATA, 6 inch brace, 342 fps IBO, EC2 cam. MSRP USD 1,299.
- PSE EVO EVL 34: 34 inch ATA, 6 inch brace, 342 fps IBO, dual E2 cam. MSRP USD 1,099.
- PSE Nock On Carbon Levitate: 32 inch ATA, 5.75 inch brace, 348 fps IBO, carbon riser. MSRP USD 1,599.
Warranty and forum reputation
PSE warranty replaces defective risers, limbs, and cams to the original owner for life. Rokslide Western hunt threads point to the EVO EVL 34 as one of the steadiest 60-yard pin holds in the current market at its price. Customer service response through Tucson is documented as reliable in ArcheryTalk warranty threads.
Common complaints
Weight. PSE bows historically ran heavier than Mathews or Hoyt equivalents (the Mach 30 at 4.5 lb is heavier than the Lift X 33 at 4.3 lb). ArcheryTalk treestand hunters flag the added ounces on all-day sits. Grip fit is more variable across the lineup because PSE has more model turnover than single-flagship brands; some fits are excellent, some are average.
