Iron Will S100 review

The Iron Will S100 is the two-blade fixed cut-on-contact broadhead the elk-hunting community treats as a reference. Grade 5 titanium single-piece ferrule, .062 in A2 tool-steel blades, 1-1/16 in main cut plus a 3/4 in bleeder for 1.812 in total cut, 100 gr. Made in Colorado. Field-serviceable, indestructible, and expensive.

Build and geometry

Ferrule is CNC-machined Grade 5 titanium. The .062 in blades are A2 tool steel, cryogenically treated and triple tempered to Rockwell 60. Blades are laminated stainless, .062 in thick, edge-hardened. The head is one-piece front to back, no threaded joint between ferrule and blade seat. Bleeder blades are optional. 1-1/16 in cut for the main blade, 1.812 in total with the 3/4 in bleeder.

Flight and tuning

Iron Will publishes a straightness spec: the head is within .002 in of concentric to the alignment collar it ships with. Every one we shoot spin-tests true out of the pack. Flight is identical to a field point within 30 yd on a paper-tuned rig, and broadhead-tuning is a fine-adjust job at 40+ yd.

Best for

Best for: elk and big-game bowhunters wanting no-compromise penetration on a heavy-shaft weight-forward build.

Shortcomings

USD 100 for three heads. That is real money. The 1 in base cut is on the small end (bleeders bring it to 1.25 in). Single-bevel option is available but limited spine matches.
